In 1977, the UN General Assembly proclaimed a resolution of the United Nations Day for the Rights of Women and International Peace. Australia, South Africa, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America, Baltic States, Countries Of America, the southern countries of the Nordic countries, celebrate this day on the second Sunday of May.<\/p>\n

In Romania, Mother’s Day was declared a public holiday since 2010 and is celebrated on the first Sunday of May. In Romania and Bulgaria, habits were preserved before the fall of Communism, when on March 8, on Mother’s Day, children gave presents to mothers, grandmothers, teachers and other women who were considered to be close.<\/p>\n
